Jemax calls for Government intervention over Boomplay unpaid royalties for 50M+ streams,
Renowned Zambian rapper Jemax blasts and publicly express disappointment with one of Africa’s leading music streaming platform, Boomplay over unpaid royalties for his most streamed music album the “Boogeyman”. The rapper said despite his album surpassing 50 Millions plus streams on boomplay he has not received any payment. It’s alleged the his team made numerous attempts in trying to engage with boomplay through emails and other appropriate communication channels but they heard nothing nor received any response from boomplay.

Am disappointed with Boomplay. After getting over 50 Millions streams on the platform for my BOOGEYMAN ALBUM, I have never gotten any payment. We have tried a countless number of times with my team to contact their support portal via emails and much more yet nothing fruitful has ever come out. I demand for ANSWERS and am calling upon relevant bodies such as ZAM, NAC and Ministry of ARTS to intervene. Its sad to learn that actually most artists are being owed hefty amounts of moneys by Boomplay yet no one has been given a valid excuse – Jemax
The Rapper is now calling relevant authorities such as Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM), National Arts Council (NAC), as well as the Ministry of arts to step in and help out and seek accountability and transparency. Jemax becomes one of the artists who has openly blasts boomplay for unpaid royalties, it seems like this issue is broad as it’s faced by many Zambian and African artists. While Boomplay have a pivotal role in promoting African music, it’s very important that transparency and accountability is exercised especially where money is concerned.
